More on Yorkiepoos

Yorkiepoos are intelligent, affectionate and gentle. If you are looking for a sweet companion to join your family or household, this could be the perfect breed for you.

Yorkiepoos require less exercise than other breeds and would make a great flat/apartment dog.  They will still enjoy a good daily walk, especially if they have no garden to run around. They are very playful dogs, so they should adapt well as long as they get plenty of playtime. Remember, a bored dog will usually become mischievous, whether it be nuisance barking, chewing or digging. Try to ensure they are occupied with jobs, playtime or plenty of exercise to keep them out of trouble.

Yorkiepoos love to be with you and the family but tend to bond more with one special person. They are good with children and have their limits on being messed around with, so they are probably a breed to avoid if you have youngsters.  They will run around the garden with older kids all day. They also make great lapdogs and love to snuggle with you.

Yorkiepoos make for great watchdogs, one of the best breeds. They will be alert to everything little thing going on. They can be a little barky, so you must train them to be quiet on command. They are un-trusting of strangers, and you will need to ensure they are socialised early on to combat this.

They should be OK with other dogs and cats if brought up with them. They can have the bossy traits of the Yorkie or the more peaceful poodle. Terriers love to hunt and chase, so the instinctive need to chase neighbours’ cats and small animals is probably too strong to control. Ensure your outside area is well enclosed, and they can’t escape when giving chase.

They are very intelligent dogs but a little stubborn, but they should be fairly easy to train and work with. Try to keep training both exciting and fun and avoid being harsh with them. Identifying their motivation reward early will get you the best results, and it’s normally food.

Their coat is usually soft in texture, they will shed minimally, but they will probably need to go to professional groomers to get clipped. As with all designer breeds, coats can vary in every litter. There are no real guarantees on the amount of shedding you will have.
