Fed up with that Annoying Jingle Jangle?

Is the Jingle Jangle of your dog’s metal id collar driving you Crazy?

You know that to keep your dog safe, protected and legal, you must microchip them and have a tag or collar that displays your contact details, you may want to also display a medical alert or temperament tag, to make sure anyone who finds your dog understands them. All of this information can get cluttered on your dogs collar and lead to noise levels of all those tags becoming annoying.

Is the Jingle Jangle of your dog’s metal ID collar driving you nuts?

Do you hear it bashing the water bowl at night?

Waking the Kids up?

Maybe it sets off the neighbours dogs when you let them for their last pee before bed?

Are those dangling tags on your dog collar safe?

Unfortunately those tags can cause dangerous situations:

  • Crate: It occurs when the identification tags get stuck in the bars of the crate.
  • Branches/Bushes: While most dogs love romping through the woods, branches can easily snag the tag, either losing the tag or trapping the dog.
  • Heating/Cooling air vents: The hanging identification tags can get stuck in air vents, and while the dog struggles, they ends up doing more harm than good.

My dog never runs off?

Never say never! Dog’s can be unpredictable after all as much as you call them your furkids they are still animals.

Times when your dog could run off/escape:

  • A friend or dog sitter is walking your dog for you.
  • Maybe you are in a strange place and they get confused.
  • They chase an animal and lose sight of you
  • They find a tiny gap in your inescapable fence
  • They jump out of the car when you pull up or park
  • You are out walking and dog hears gunshots or fireworks.
  • You are involved in an accident

There are so many reasons how the unthinkable can happen, just make sure you give your dog the best chance of being reunited both quickly and with the least amount of stress for both you and your best friend.

He’s chipped and not likely to run away from home but I always worry there will be that one time and that’s all it takes

To name or not to name?

Should you put your dogs name on your Dog ID?

There are two arguments:

  • Yes, the dog may only respond to a kindly stranger trying to help them, if they feel comfortable or feel the person actually knows them, or is concerned for their welfare if they have escaped from your home or garden, and they are lost or injured. The sound of the stranger saying their name may break down the fear of the unknown person and allow them to help your dog.
  • No, if people see the name, they can take it as an opportunity to lure your dog away from you and steal them.

You may not want to print the name on the collars but there are lots of other options

  • I’m Lost
  • Nervous
  • Deaf
  • Aggressive with Dogs
  • Friendly
  • Medical alert – such as Diabetic or Epileptic

I have helped a staffy with no collar before that was running around on the main road! Ended up having to leave him at the police station as we had a surprise family birthday party to host, so literally could not sit around waiting for the dog warden to turn up but it was a right palava. That dog could have been back with his owner much easier if he had, had tags on. As it was I don’t know what happened to him 🙁 He was a lovely dog.

Put it on my dog the day arrived. Later that day he took off in an unfamiliar neighbourhood. Frantically, I began searching. Had a phone call from a young man who found him in his garden over 2 miles away! My dog is microchipped, but this is as quick a response as anyone could hope for!
